IM4DC is a joint venture between The University of Western Australia and The University of Queensland, funded by the Australian Government through an Australian Aid initiative. The Centre provides practical advisory, education and training services to resource-rich developing nations across mining and development issues to help build sustainable minerals and energy sectors.

IM4DC collaborates with others to harness the intellectual capital existing in the Australian resources and higher education sectors to increase knowledge, experience and skill levels of key personnel within governments, universities, research institutions and civil society organisations in developing countries.

Through its conference events, alumni engagement, and partnerships with international agencies, Australian universities, research institutions, and others around the globe, the Centre is actively shaping global knowledge networks and building leadership in mining for development.
