PRE-SYMPOSIUM TECHNICAL VISIT
Kruger National Park | 20 October 2014
IAIA has partnered with Africa Foundation, a 20-year-old nonprofit organization which strives to create sustainable livelihoods in a holistic way, to create a meaningful technical visit to three project sites.
- Madilika Craft Centre, where 12 crafters transitioned from individually selling by the roadside to fulfilling enough bulk orders to fund electricity at their new building and pay for their children’s education.
- Zitha Farm, owned by the only female farmer in the region, which supplies produce to the local market and supports a feeding scheme programme for schools.
- Lillydale Home-based Care Centre, started by a group of women volunteers in 2004 who asked the local clinic for training to meet the health care needs of those unable to travel to the clinic, and now they offer food, water, and health services to 360 children.
More details on these projects and the Africa Foundation can be found in the technical visit PDF document.
