ENERGY CAPACITY BUILDING STIPEND (CBS) PROGRAM

Financial support for impact assessment professionals who wish to attend IAIA22 in Vancouver, Canada

The International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) is pleased to offer this CBS program to aid individuals residing in developing countries in attending IAIA22.  A select number of applicants who meet all qualifications will receive a stipend to attend the conference.  (See note about potential COVID-19 impacts on this program at the end of the announcements.)

 

Funds for this program were made possible by Norad's Oil for Development program. 

 

Who would qualify for the scholarship? 
A successful applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold at least a Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-12 years of professional experience in the fields of Oil and Gas, Energy, Impact Assessment, or a related field.
  • Working in a leadership position in government, agency, university, consultancy, NGO, or related sector.
  • Must reside and work in one of the following countries, which are classified as a current partner with Norad's Oil for Development and/or Renewable Energy programmes:  Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Colombia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Liberia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, The Palestinian Territory, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Uganda, Vietnam.

 

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet all the above-listed qualifications.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application form and CV by 24 November 2021.
  • Recipients must have a valid passport and must obtain their visa in a timely manner. 
  • Recipients must meet all requirements set by the Canadian federal, provincial, and/or local government for entry (i.e. vaccination requirements, etc.).
  • Recipients must purchase local travel insurance.
  • Recipients will be expected to attend IAIA22 in its entirety, remaining in Vancouver, BC, Canada from approximately 4 - 7 May 2022.

 

Each stipend includes:

  • Conference registration fee
  • Conference banquet ticket
  • Training course (2-3 May)
  • Single accommodations (6-8 nights)
  • Flights (Economy)
  • Carbon Offset for flights
  • Per diem
  • Visa fee reimbursement
  • Travel insurance reimbursement
  • Complimentary three-year IAIA membership

 

A note about COVID-19
Visitors are currently required to be fully vaccinated under one on the approved vaccines to enter Canada.  You will find the most updated information on the Government of Canada's website (COVID-19: Travel, testing, quarantine and borders - Travel.gc.ca). If stipend recipients are unable to travel next spring to IAIA22, they will be given online access to the annual conference instead of an in-person stipend.
